Suswam gives unconvincing rebuttal to rumours of defection

Following rumours of his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam has responded by saying he is not leaving the PDP yet.

The former governor who spoke via his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Bede Bartholomew admitted that he was in negotiation, made agreements and had shifted grounds but said it had nothing to do with dumping his party.
“I want to disabuse the minds of PDP and Suswam’s teeming supporters that the leader is not leaving the PDP yet! a party he has toiled and suffered over the years and has in the last three and half years been to DSS detention with cases in court abd even subtle attempts at his life to keep afloat all this while.

“Suswam’s name and personality is synonymous with PDP not only in Benue State but across the entire country.

“Yes, I can assure you that meetings are taking place, grounds are been shifted, negotiations and agreements are being entered over some contentious but very important issues for the peace, good and benefit of all in the Benue PDP family. Suswam has been a member of the PDP since 1998 when he contested and won election into the Federal House of Representatives in 1999 and Governorship election in 2007, till date he has never contemplated leaving the party.

“And I want to humbly urge all people of good conscience and lovers of democracy to remain calm even in this trying times and to be very vigilant as tomorrow is still very pregnant as every new development shall be communicated appropriately across.” He said.

This however has done little to quell the rife rumours even within close circles of the former governor who is vying for the Benue northeast senatorial seat in next years elections.
