Police arraign seven herdsmen for criminal conspiracy, terrorism in Benue

Benue State Police Command has arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court a gang of seven suspected armed herdsmen militia in Gbajimba, headquarters of Guma local government area of Benue State. 

The herdsmen were suspected to be on a mission to attack the community. The suspects who were charged for criminal conspiracy, act of terrorism and armed robbery were also charged for being in possession of prohibited fire arms and ammunitions.

The prosecuting officer ASP Echu Imo, gave the names of the suspects to include Buhari Gomo, Abubakar Bawa, Jatau Mohammed, Jibril Isah, Dakin Kyaibu, Dhiru Sani and Musa Lafia. 

The prosecutor explained that based on the available information, the police team swung into action and arrested the accused persons and recovered several arms and ammunitions, which include three AK 47 with live ammunitions, four handsets and a bag of charms and other prohibited firearms. 

The chief Magistrate Isaac Ajim ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the Makurdi Medium prisons and adjourned the case to October 31 for further mention.
