BREAKING: Troops burst Fulani militia hideout in Benue (SEE PHOTOS)

Troops deployed in operation Whirl Stroke, yesterday, while on clearance operation along Gbajimba – Akor axis in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, encountered armed militia men with large herds of cattle.

According to the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu who made the announcement, the troops dislodged the armed militia men from their camp following a superior fire power.

He said an inspecified number of the armed militia men were suspected to be killed by the troops while others escaped into nearby bushes with gun shot wounds with efforts ongoing to get other fleeing militants.

However, items recovered include one AK 47 rifle, two AK 47 rifle magazines, 60 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and five motorcycles.

The Director advised members of the public to report any suspicious movements or activities in their area to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.
